You can buy the 10 gallon spray canisters with the built-in and gun from Home Depot. Save yourself $16,000. You could probably do this whole building yourself for 1500 bucks, 2000.

Spray Jones says from test that 2" is best to stop enough heat transfer which will cause condensation and is all you need to insulate almost anywhere in the states. Did you find 1.5 enough?

What’s the name of the gun your using? We use a gun threw nitrosys and I hate the pattern that comes out of the tips. The tips constantly block up if you can’t move fast.

It adds 20% rigidity to the structure! It is also the best PEST barrier. Rodents hate this stuff because when they try to bite it, it's so unnatural that they stay away.

I've heard that it's a good idea to pressure wash or somehow clean the metal panels before applying closed cell foam to remove manufacturing oils which might cause closed cell foam to pull away from the metal over time. Is that true? Planning on building a barndo here soon and would like to know the answer to that. Thanks! Nice video.

We would like to build a house next year and go with a cathedral ceiling (beams, t&g boards, then insulate the top). However, I just had a local contractor telling me he wants 7.5 CAD/sqaure foot for 5" insulation. Now that sound ridiculously expensive to me or is that normal?

I am a big believer in closed cell spray foam for many applications. From my experience, the downside to applying spray foam directly to the backside of the exterior metal panel is the struggle this will cause if you ever need to replace that panel due to damage caused by storms, bikes or cars, or someone with an attitude kicking the siding. The struggle to replace the panel is even worse if the inside of the building has been finished off with metal liner panel or plywood because you can't get to the backside of that panel you are replacing to cut the spray foam at a joint to allow for its removal. During construction of your building, if you do plan to use spray foam, consider placing a house wrap before applying the metal. The foam will adhere to the wrap, not to the metal, allowing panels to someday be replaced if damaged.

Spray foam really does work pretty good. The problem is the cost . For the same or a little less price I can bubble wrap my garage and insulate it with faced fiberglass. It’s unbelievable wha some of these guys charges here in southern Ohio. I’ve had the floor of a small house insulated awhile back. It was 28x40. Estimateswas $1500 to $1800 . I had half that in the fiberglass

It would be really cool if someone did this same video but waited a few seconds and then did another layer to show how much ch quieter the second layer was to the first. The application would be almost silent from the outside. It would be a good sales video. Also try a before and after in a metal building yelling clapping dropping tools , to demonstrate how the space changes acoustically.

I am building Metal building in Northern Arizona. My insulation company bid one with open cell. Do I need to use a vapor barrier here? We rarely have humidity higher than 15% except in the monsoon season (4 months) when we can get in the 70% range at the most and not everyday. We get freezing temps and snow up here from Jan - March, as well. I hope that is enough info to get a good idea of the proper way to insulate up here. The wind is so bad here that it is almost impossible to put on the insulation from the metal garage companies. TIA
